Preschool students enjoyed reading "A Ball for Daisy."  This wordless picture book allowed students to "be the author" as they had to tell the story using only the illustrations as their guide.

Kindergarten students learned about staying safe online by following three simple rules.
1.  Ask for permission.

2.  Go to sites that are safe for kids.
3.  Only talk to people you know.

Fairy tales are the focus of first grade library class.  We have recently read "Little Red Riding Hood," "Jack and the Beanstalk," and "Puss in Boots."

Second graders are currently reading a variety of fables which feature animals with human characteristics and a central moral or lesson.  Some of the tales that we have read include "The Tortoise and the Hare," "The Fox and the Stork," and "The Lion and the Mouse."

Third-grade students recently started a unit about tall tales.  The first book will feature the many adventures of Paul Bunyan.  This story is always a favorite as the various exaggerations add to the enjoyment of the humorous tale.

The fourth-grade library class discussed dictionary skills, including locating the part of speech.  In addition, they reviewed using context clues to determine the correct definition of multiple-meaning words.

The students in 5th grade solved Halloween riddles and then used the answers to search the online catalog.  They will soon conduct Boolean searches in which they search for multiple topics in one search using advanced search terms (AND, AND NOT, and OR).

Sixth graders have reviewed how to use the link to our online library to search for books on a variety of topics.
