Hard Surface Roads Only-

 Our regular bus routes will resume on Monday, January 29th. We appreciate your understanding as we manage through the challenges of winter weather and road conditions. Special thanks to the state and county roads departments for their dedication in clearing and maintaining all secondary roads and highways in Adair and Guthrie County.

 Large Group Speech-
Congratulations to our students and coaches who took part in the District Large Group Speech Contest last weekend! A big thank you goes to Mrs. Kelsey Dinkla for coordinating the contest, and thank you to the volunteers who contributed to making this day a success!

Throughout the busy and successful day, the following groups earned a Division I rating and will compete at Ankeny Centennial on February 3rd:

Improv- Team McClain- Jarrett McClain, Bo Arrasmith, Emerson Van Meter, Presley Buttler, Andrew Mahaffey.

Improv- Team Carlson- Kelsey Carlson, Tate Fever, Shay Lemke, Max Trujillo-Garcia, Lucy Knutter.

Radio KDAD- Jonny Kading, Cameron Mozingo, Jameson Pfrang, Brandon Carlson, Preston Kent.

Radio KWST- Bo Arrasmith, Lance Bunde, Noah Kading, Carter Neff, Ashton Zekucia.

One Act- Drama Geeks- Montana Douglas, Ali Plagman, Allison Drake, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Shyann Young, Lilah Heinz, Emmarae Ellis, Rohnin Grasty, Austin Barron, Tanner Downing, Blakely Buttler. 

Ensemble Acting- HDYMTWBT- Elizabeth Baughman, Natalie Kent, Owen Dinkla.

Musical Theatre- Sweeney Todd- Kelsey Carlson, Victoria Soto, Andrew Mahaffey, Owen Dinkla, Haedyn Grasty, Rohnin Grasty. 

Musical Theatre- Waitress- Addison Laughery, Natalie Dinkla, Cadence Petersen, Montana Douglas, Ilana Baumert, Allison Drake

Mime- Cops and Robbers- Ava Campbell, Allie DeWitt, Addison Laughery, Grace Lavoy, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Shyann Young. 

Mime- Friends Don’t Let Friends Fish and Vlog- Carley Fagan, Belle Fagan, Jeslyn Ortega, Shay Lemke, Caydence Boals, Laurin Davis. 

Mime- The Power of One- Natalie Dinkla, Ilana Baumert, Olivia Mahaffey, Cadence Petersen, Natalie Kent, Elizabeth Baughman. 

The following groups participated in State Large Group Speech  and earned a Division II rating:

Improv- Team Dinkla- Carter Dinkla, Preston Kent, Taytum Bates, Ben Franzeen, Brandon Carlson. 

Readers Theatre- If Only- Bee Oldes, Allie DeWitt, Caydence Boals, Ali Plagman, Lucy Knutter, Lilah Heinz, Laurin Davis, Blakely Buttler. 

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Large Group Speech Contest and Speech Showcase this past Tuesday! Thank you to our Speech Coaches Mrs. Kelsey Dinkla and Mr. Colin Shawgo for a highly successful week of speech!

 

Guthrie Center Elementary Principal

We are currently taking applications for our open Principal position at Guthrie Center Elementary. Applications for this position are due by February 7th, with interviews occurring during the week of February 12th. Our current timeline has a recommendation for hire to be presented to the Guthrie Center School Board during the February 21st school board meeting. 

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences are approaching on February 13th and 15th from 4:00-7:00 PM. Please mark your calendars. Information about conferences will be communicated by our building principals in the near future. There will be no school on February 16th and 19th due to a teacher comp day and professional development. 

 

End of 3rd Quarter/4th Quarter-

Due to recent weather-related disruptions, we have rescheduled the end of the 3rd quarter to March 20th, which will be a regular school day without early dismissal. March 13th remains a two-hour early dismissal, with spring break on March 14-15. The end of the 4th quarter and the last day of school for students will be determined at the March school board meeting, with snow makeup days scheduled at the end of the academic calendar.

Hopefully our severe winter weather is behind us!

Winter Activities 

What an exciting and successful winter activities season we've had at AC/GC! On the court, on the mat, in the classroom, or on the stage, our students have excelled! Congratulations to all students and coaches who poured countless hours into their activities, you've made our communities proud. A special thank you to parents, grandparents, and guardians for supporting and making it possible for our students to pursue their passions. As we enter the end of our winter activity seasons, be sure to stop in and support our students!
