Tell us about your family
My husband, Joe, is retired from the Guthrie County Conservation board. He has his own consulting business, Hanner Outdoor Solutions. Our daughter, Alison, is Variety the Children's Charity Marketing and Public Relations director in Des Moines. Our son, Matt and his wife, Karie live in Sioux City. Matt works for the FDIC and Karie is a nurse. They are expecting our first grandchild in August.
What's your favorite food?
Almost anything shrimp!
What's your favorite pastime/hobby?
Scrapbooking and reading.

How do you spend your summer breaks?
Reading, scrapbooking and thrifting.
What is one thing you're passionate about?
I'm passionate about finding out reading research and applying it to teach kids to read. I'm also passionate about scrapbooking and telling the stories of events in my life.
What would students be surprised to find out about you?
I was a nanny in New York City one summer in college. I knew after that experience that city life was not for me and money doesn't buy happiness.
