FFA District Contest

AC/GC FFA students competed at the Southwest District Contest on Saturday, March 5, at Carroll High School. Jake Thomas’s (Gold) Treasurer’s book advanced to State and EmmaRae Ellis (Gold-4th placer) is an alternate to State in Creed Speaking. Britni Hays received the Academic Achievement Award and Tucker Carroll and Jarrett McClain served as Delegates. Other results include: Oxy Welding - Michael Maas (3rd, Gold); Arc Welding - Jalen Michaelsen (7th place, Gold); Job Interview - Presley Buttler (Gold); Chapter Program (Silver) - Cara Caltride, Sophie Dorsey, and Jackson Sloss; Extemporaneous Speaking - Jake Thomas (Silver); Secretary’s Book - Cara Caltrider (Silver); Reporter’s Scrapbook - Jarrett McClain (Silver); Ag Impact - Nora Langgaard, Olivia Mahaffey, Laurin Davis, Allison Drake, Calleigh Wolfe, and Lilah Heinz (Bronze).

Bus Masking Requirement Change

The CDC has released new guidance lifting the mask requirement for school buses. The requirement remains for other public transportation. Beginning immediately, students and staff are no longer required to wear masks on the school buses.

Additional Teachers at A-C

The Adair-Casey School Board recently approved hiring three additional teaching positions to provide additional support for our students. We are seeking exceptional candidates for 1st and 2nd grades and an additional special education instructor. More information can be found on the TeachIowa website (https://iowa.schoolspring.com/).

Legislative Advocacy

The first discussion of vouchers has begun in the Iowa House with HSB 672. Please contact members of the House Appropriations Committee before Tuesday at noon and encourage their opposition.
