Dear Parents, Students, and Community,

FFA State Champs

Two AC/GC students took first place in separate proficiency programs that were submitted February 14 and judged prior to the state convention. Tyconder Ellis won for his proficiency in the Agriculture Mechanics Design and Fabrication category and Jarrett McClain won for Sheep Production. They will be recognized April 12 at the Iowa State FFA Leadership Conference in Ames and their applications advance to the National FFA Convention. The Iowa FFA website states, “Agriculture proficiency awards honor members who, through their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs, have set goals and learned practical skills.” Other students submitting proficiencies include Presley Buttler, Gold (3rd place) in Swine Entrepreneurship; Cara Caltrider, Gold (3rd place) in Agriculture Processing; Michael Maas, Silver in Beef Production Entrepreneurship; Jalen Michaelson, Silver in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance - Placement; Tucker Carroll, Bronze in Agricultural Service, Jake Thomas, Bronze in Diversified Agriculture Production; and James Hodges, Bronze in Diversified Livestock Production.

Snow (Ice) Day

Due to the inclement weather on February 22, we will move the end of the 3rd Quarter to March 21, 2022 and the last day of school will be May 26, 2022.

Legislative Advocacy

Legislators passed HF 2317 on Thursday. The tax plan will mean a flat 3.9% income tax for Iowans. While this move is good for taxpayers, it will severely limit legislators ability to fund schools well into the future. For this reason and others previously discussed, please continue to remind legislators that public funds should only go to public schools and ask them to vote against any legislation in favor of public funds that are diverted to private schools.

Looks like March is coming in like a lamb…

Be great today!
