Charger Update- January 13, 2023

Martin Luther King Day

There will be no school for students on Monday, January 16, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Teachers have professional development scheduled for this day, which includes training on standards based learning, reading strategies, student engagement, and studying individual student success data.

Snow Days

Prior to Christmas Break we experienced some winter weather which included an early out, a late start, and the cancellation of school due to inclement weather. As a school district our students are required to attend school for 1080 hours. This year's AC/GC district calendar has 1111 student contact hours scheduled into our current calendar. We will review the number of hours our students attended school at the end of winter to determine if hours need to be made up at the end of the school year. Any calendar changes for this year will be approved during the April school board meetings.

Infinite Campus

Please make sure your contact information is current and up to date, making all changes through your AG/GC Infinite Campus parent login. A link to the Infinite Campus login may be found on the menu bar at the top of our district website. Make sure you have emergency and general text messages selected for your mobile phone to receive all text messages sent through Infinite Campus. Contact the school if you have any questions about updating your contact information.

Joint Board Meeting

Both Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center School boards plan to have a joint board meeting on Wednesday, February 1st, 7:00 p.m., in the AC/GC High School Library. During this joint meeting the boards will approve first semester whole grade sharing expenses and continue their discussion around goal setting for AC/GC Schools.

Activities

Our winter sports activities are in the middle of their sports schedules and winter activities. Our students have represented our school well on the basketball court, on the wrestling mat, in our community, and in the classroom. Good luck to all students, coaches, and parents as we soon enter the end of our regular seasons and the start of state tournament competitions.

Bus Drivers Needed

We continue to have a need for bus drivers at the Adair-Casey school district. Routes are available for yellow bus drivers (CDL required) and suburban/car trip drivers (Chauffeur's License). Our yellow bus route drivers are paid $51.23 per route, or $102.46/day, to transport our students to and from school. Suburban and car drivers are paid $17.09/hour for activity trips. Adair-Casey CSD will pay for all costs associated with obtaining proper licensure.

If you know someone who works well with kids and is interested in a part time job, please have them contact the school or apply by clicking on the link below.
