Mrs. Tiernan currently serves as a Special Education Teacher and Assistant Softball Coach at Waukee High School. She brings six years of teaching experience, 11 years of coaching experience, and valuable event operations experience from Iowa State University. With a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, she is well-prepared to make a strong impact at AC/GC.
Mrs. Tiernan is supported by her husband, Dan, and their dog, Maverick. We’re excited to have her join our school community and look forward to the leadership and energy she will bring to our students and activities programs.

The Guthrie Center School Board is excited to announce that Mr. William Shull has been appointed as Physical Education Teacher, Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Head Football Coach for AC/GC High School and Guthrie Center Elementary!
Coach Shull has been a valued part of the AC/GC community, currently serving as a PE teacher at Adair-Casey Elementary and AC/GC Junior High, as well as Head Girls Golf Coach. With three years of teaching experience and a strong background in kinesiology and sports management, he brings energy, passion, and leadership to this new role.
A familiar face to the Charger Football program as a former assistant coach, Coach Shull will step into the Head Coach position next fall. We’re excited to see the positive impact he’ll have on our student-athletes and school community!

Mr. Pate brings 18 years of teaching experience and currently serves as a Math Teacher at Valley Southwoods in the West Des Moines Community School District. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education along with Master’s and Specialist degrees from Drake University. He is eager to bring his passion for education and leadership to AC/GC High School.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Pate enjoys staying active, golfing, collecting baseball cards, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Pate, his wife Sarah, and their children—Makencie, Kayla, Jase, and Johannah—to the AC/GC community!

The AC/GC DECA Club competed at the Iowa DECA State Career Development Conference these past two days. This competition determined whether they would qualify to go to ICDC in Atlanta, Georgia, in April.
The members who are going to ICDC in Atlanta:
Becca Littler and Irelyn Wirt - Team Decision Making, Entrepreneurship - 3rd Place at State
Angel Martinez and Max Trujillo-Garcia - Team Decision Making, Business Law and Ethics - 4th Place at State
Preston Kent also earned Honorable Mention in his category and has the chance to go to ICDC.
